The Korumburra Business Association

Korumburra is a town with a vibrant history and an exciting future. In the 1800's, the town flourished with the development of coal mining as its major industry. In more recent times, business in Korumburra has been based around its rich dairy industry and its ability to service the requirements of the rural community. The Korumburra saleyards were nationally recognised as one of the major cattle trading centres in Australia.

Today, business in Korumburra focuses on meeting the wide ranging needs of the surrounding community, with dedication to service and quality. With the recent and ongoing improvements to the regional road network, this community is growing larger and stretching further afield. Today, Korumburra is less than 60 minutes by road to the south eastern suburbs of Melbourne. This proximity to the city has attracted an exciting mix of people – many become residents, while others visit to get a taste of our country lifestyle.

Korumburra is well placed to provide industrial and trade services to a broad community. Our industrial centre is situated on the north-western aspect of the town, with immediate access to the major arterial road into Melbourne. Many growing businesses have realised the potential of establishing in Korumburra, minimising business costs but still maximising the opportunity to market into Melbourne and beyond.

The charm and country friendliness of Commercial Street is a refreshing feature of the town. The rolling green hills of the Strzelecki Ranges make a beautiful backdrop as you experience shopping in Korumburra. Cafes, bakeries, restaurants, hotels and antiques stores fill this jostling street, side by side with a wide array of retailing outlets.

The town is well serviced in the financial sector with accountants, financial advisors and four of the major banks. Those requiring legal advice are also well catered for with two legal practices based in the town. A large medical practice services the human health needs for the town, and all the animal's needs are looked after by a progressive veterinary clinic.

The next few years are going to be particularly exciting times for Korumburra due to proposed retailing and industrial developments, most notably the redevelopment of the old Korumburra saleyards site into a modern shopping complex.

So whether you are looking for a replacement car, bits and pieces for the house and garden, great coffee and food, some new clothes, a new TV or even a tractor, come to Korumburra. You will find what you need, and you'll always be greeted with that famous country hospitality.
